Life in the UK Test— Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
In short: this app works almost entirely on your device. Your test progress, starred questions, mistakes and settings never leave your phone. A handful of features connect to outside services — ads, purchases, and translation — each described plainly below, with exactly what's shared and why.
1. Information stored on your device
No account or sign-up is required to use this app. The following is stored only in local storage on your own device, and is never uploaded to a server we control:
Starred questions and questions you've marked as mistakes
Your activity history, test and exam results, and study progress
App preferences — dark mode, text size, chosen glossary/flashcard language
Uninstalling the app, or using More → Reset All Data, permanently erases all of it. We have no copy, because we never received one.
2. Advertising
We show ads through Google AdMob to keep the app free to download and use. AdMob may collect device and advertising identifiers to serve and measure ads, and — where you're in the UK, EEA, or Switzerland — we ask for your consent before any personalised ad is shown, using Google's own consent tool. You can change your choice at any time in More → Manage Ad Choices.
AdMob's own handling of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
3. Subscriptions & purchases
Premium (Weekly, Monthly, or Lifetime) is billed entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play — we never see or store your card details. Purchase and subscription status is synced through RevenueCat, which we use to confirm your entitlement across devices. RevenueCat receives an anonymous device/purchase identifier, not your name or payment information.
4. Translation feature
When you select a language other than English in the Glossary or Smart Revision flashcards, the relevant term or question text is sent to Google Translate to be translated, then shown to you. This only happens for the specific text you're viewing, and only when a non-English language is selected.
5. Third-party services, at a glance

RevenueCat

Anonymous purchase/device ID
Apple App Store / Google Play

We do not sell your data, and we do not share your on-device study data (stars, mistakes, activity) with any of the above — it never leaves your device in the first place.
6. Children's privacy
This app is intended for adults preparing for the Life in the UK citizenship test and is not directed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Your rights and choices
Because almost everything is stored locally and no account exists, most rights under UK GDPR are already in your hands directly:
Access / export: your data is on your device — nothing to request from us.
Deletion: use More → Reset All Data, or uninstall the app.
Ad personalisation: change or withdraw consent anytime in More → Manage Ad Choices.
If you believe we hold any personal data beyond what's described here, contact us below and we'll investigate.
8. How long we keep data
On-device data stays until you delete it yourself (see above). Third-party services (AdMob, RevenueCat) retain data per their own policies, linked throughout this page.
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will also be reflected in the in-app version, under More → Privacy Policy.
